ഫ്രാന്സിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തില് സുപ്രധാനമായ പങ്കുള്ള നോത്രദാം കത്തീഡ്രല് പലപ്പോഴായി തകര്ക്കപ്പെടുകയും പുതുക്കി പണിയുകയുമൊക്കെ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ലോകത്തിലെ ആദ്യ ദേവാലയങ്ങളില് ഒന്നായ പാരീസിലെ നോത്ര ദാം കത്തീഡ്രല് ഇന്നലെ വൈകുന്നേരമുണ്ടായ തീപിടുത്തത്തില് പൂര്ണമായും കത്തിനശിച്ചു. ഫ്രഞ്ച് ഗോഥിക് വാസ്തു ശൈലിയിലുള്ള നോത്ര ദാം കത്തീഡ്രലിന് ഏകദേശം 900 വര്ഷത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള ചരിത്രമുണ്ട്. 1163ല് നിര്മാണം ആരംഭിച്ച ദേവാലയത്തിന്റെ പണി പൂര്ത്തിയായത് 1345ലാണ്.
